HOOD NA MBÓ

Agus mé i mo pháiste ag fás aníos ar leithinis álainn Chorca Dhuibhne, i gContae aoibhinn Chiarraí, chaith mé uaireanta gan áireamh ag fánaíocht go sona sásta trí pháirceanna, ag dul thar srutháin agus ag súgradh leis na hainmhithe ar fheirm mo Mhamó Mae. Bhí mé i gcónaí faoi dhraíocht ag an dúlra agus ag na hainmhithe. “Ba mhaith liom a cheapadh go bhfuil an grá seo do na hainmhithe agus don tuath in Éirinn le fáil i mo chuid pictiúr. Tá mé cinnte go bhfuil pearsantacht dhifriúil ag gach ainmhí agus is é mian mo chroí é sin a chur in iúl go macánta.”

Sa lá atá inniu ann is le holltáirgeadh ceimiceach a dhéantar an chuid is mó dár bpéinteanna agus ruaimeanna. Tá mo shaothar á spreagadh go láidir ag an dúlra agus nuair a úsáidim ábhair datha nádúrtha níl ansin ach céim amháin i dtreo cleachtais níos inbhuanaithe. Tá an pailéad a úsáidim báúil go hiomlán leis an domhan, leis an duine agus leis na hainmhithe, agus thar aon rud eile is bealach sásúil é chun ealaín a chruthú.

Tá mo theicníc ealaíne forbartha anois agus á úsáid mar a leanas:

–        Línéadaigh Éireannacha

–        Stáiseanóireacht

–        Criadóireacht

–        Priontaí in eagráin theoranta

COWS IN THE HOOD

As a child growing up on the beautiful Dingle peninsula, in the gorgeous County Kerry, I spent countless hours happily wandering through fields, crossing streams and playing with the animals on my Granny Mae’s farm. I was always captivated with nature and animals. I’d like to think this love for animals and the Irish countryside can be found in my paintings. I am convinced that every animal has a different personality and my passion is to capture it in an honest way.

Nowadays most of our paints and dyes are chemically mass-manufactured. My work is strongly inspired by the natural world and using natural pigments is just another step towards a more sustainable art practice. The palette I use is completely earth-friendly, human-friendly and animal-friendly, and above all a satisfying way to create art.

My artistic technique has evolved and now translates to:

  • Irish linen textiles
  • Stationery
  • Ceramic
  • Limited edition prints
My collection speaks the language, and the sentiments of Irish farm and country life and human compassion. I only hope that my creations stimulate, engage, and inspire both the heart and mind.

I now live in Co. Wicklow, and document my painting journey and life in a little Irish cottage in the heart of the countryside with my husband Patrick and my little boy Jake.
